This is a nude self-portrait of myself. I used the primary colours cadmium red, cobalt blue and cadmium yellow with cremnitz white to paint it. I used these colours over a wash of blue as it aptly represents the flesh in the United Kingdom. I was also interested in the anatomy under the skin including fat, muscle, tendon and bone. Also, the way the flesh changes colour when under pressure also fascinated me at the time. The comparison between flesh and silver jewellery was a contrast that I found stimulating when deciding how to portray both solid substances.
