I was interested in depicting the flesh of hands - showing the skin with the muscle, fat, tendons and bone beneath. I also wanted to show what putting the fingers under pressure did to its appearance.

This is from a photo of me clutching the washing line in our communal garden. I wonder what the neighbours thought!
