My husband and I have been watching this set of documentaries that talk about the world in a general way - how things have changed over the centuries and the decades. It’s brilliant, and has really helped my understanding of how the world’s been working when you take a step back.
Last night we watched the last episode, that summarised what has been going on in the last 20 years.2008Now then, I’ve heard it mentioned occasionally, that something happened in 2008 that was not good. I remember viewing the comments passively and moving on.
But Can’t Get You Out Of My Head started describing it
Me – What, do you know about this love?
P – Uh huhMe – Really, what happened?
P – Watch this and it’ll tell you…And it did.
Me – Oh my god. I didn’t know that had happened. I’m guessing it was on the news?
P – Of course it was, it was all over it
Me – I can’t believe I didn’t listen to it. I didn’t know. I genuinely didn’t know.
We carried on watching
Me – You know Paul, I’m thinking I missed out of 2008 and 2009 in terms of what was going on in the world. I can’t believe I didn’t realise that. How could I have not seen what was going on?
And that’s made me realise, for a couple of years there, I was clearly walking around in a bit of a haze. My brain wasn’t wired together properly. Thinking about that’s a bit scary to be honest. I’m hoping I’m a bit more on the ball now!
