Weight loss injections
A few months ago, the weight loss rate that started after my gastric sleeve operation, ground to a halt. My eating of sweet, fatty food had a directly negative effect on my self-esteem and I, as usual, blamed the whole thing on myself. I mean who else is there to blame?
I stopped getting on the scales to look and see what my eating had done. I felt really low, feeling that I’d blown the dream I had of getting down to my comfortable, healthy size.
Recently, my boy and I went to visit one of my longest lasting friends. She talked about how weight loss injections had helped her lose weight and – importantly - that most of it had stayed off, even when the injections were stopped. On learning this fact, I had a little feeling in my tummy. That feeling was a tiny pang of hope.
So of course, when I got home, I began to research this whole area. I’ve always been anti-weight loss injection, as I assumed that as soon as the injections stop, then all that weight will pile on again. I also of course, had to look at the financial side of things – the monthly charge would mean I wouldn’t have any spending money. At all.
But then I thought, is there anything more important to me than losing this weight, increasing my self-esteem and feeling happier in myself? No there is not.
Since I started the injections a month ago, I’ve twice had this experience: I step gloomily onto the scales - feeling hopeless that I can’t possibly have lost anything – and I look down. I weigh less than I did. What? WHAT? Fuck yeah! For as long as the weight loss continues, I will keep going with the injections. Maybe that dream is still alive…
