A portrait of a friend I had at the time. My style was photorealistic at the time, being careful to achieve the shades of flesh and hair to show the thoughtful expression. I spent a long time wondering the most appropriate background colour to most effectively bring out the colours of the sitter. To this day I still believe that this shade of blue most effectively brings out the colour and texture of her hair.
