Hands II, 1999, 0.35m x 0.25m
sold
This was done during my PhD - I would come home from a day working in the lab and then sit down at my easel. This was one of my first paintings with oil so I was experimenting to see whether I could mix the right colours of flesh and show the texture and shape of it. I found the contrast between the flesh of my hand with the bracelets and ring I was wearing to be an interesting challenge.
I was very pleased to sell this work in Melbourne, Australia in one of my very first exhibitions The Body Show '07.
