Charcoal drawing

Before I start my OU course, I'm currently updating my artist website. It's a boring job, but I'm taking the charcoal drawings I've done over the years and cleaning them up to make them presentable!
The first drawing sessions I ever did were in Melbourne before my TBI. On a Tuesday after work I'd roll up some paper, grab some charcoal and walk to the Hogan Gallery on Smith Street.
It was warm, dark and happy. The models would do various poses for different amounts of time.
I dated each drawing and I still have that feeling of "yeah that was before wasn't it" and this one you can see was indeed before I fell. But such great memories.
When I got back to Glasgow I thought I'd do it again, and found a class at Glasgow Art School. They were in the evening and in the months leading up to Christmas. It was cold, it was dark, it was less enjoyable. When I look at the drawings I produced I don't actually like them as much.
I wonder. Are people better at moving around the charcoal when they're cheerful, confident, inquisitive? That makes sense to me...
