Open University induction session

I went to my first induction class today. When I say that, it was online, I didn’t leave the house - weird!
I’m starting to get used to it, though I haven’t put the camera on yet so I can be seen by other, but I will eventually.
The presenters were talking about where to look on the website to make a start, learning how to do assignments. All helpful.
Something caught my eye which really made me smile. There’s a tutorial on OU entitled “how to write an essay.”
And this took me right back.
The last “essays” I wrote were many years ago when I was at vet school. We would have class exams at the end of every term. I used to get pished and go out most nights for the first eight weeks. For the last two weeks I would sit in bed (to keep warm), with a file on my lap, trying to remember as many facts as I possibly could about, well, animals. What they’re like inside, what diseases they get, how to treat them…
…and then read the exam paper and write the “essay.” Which was as many things as I could possibly think of, in an erratic manner. Sometimes not even using punctuation, giving a full stop if you’re lucky!
I somehow think that the people marking the exams weren’t looking for a proper introduction, middle and ending. They were just looking for facts, facts, facts!
I have a lot to learn.
