Painting at long last...

It was New Years Day. Loads of folk have resolutions when the year changes don’t they, but not me.
But I had nothing to do.
Something came into my head that's been lurking there for months now. The last time I sat in my studio at the easel was mid-2024. I hadn’t even lifted a brush in 2025. In fact I’m glad to see the back of 2025 to be honest, and I suppose part of me wants to live a bit differently this year compared to last.
When I went into my studio, there was loads of stuff in the way. It’s been one of those places where, if I need to quickly tuck stuff away, I used to throw it in there. So, I cleared a space and sat down at my easel.
On 1st January 2026 I mixed some colours on my palette. It was strange, as I’d almost forgotten how to use my palette knife and use the old t shirt to wipe it clean each time. But I slowly remembered and enjoyed the movement with my hands that I used to do all the time…
You know what, it made me feel good.
I went back yesterday and put paint on canvas.
Have I just carried out a New Years resolution without even realising it?!
