Auschwitz

Using a shoestring budget, Paul and I travelled around the east of Europe in 2002 for about a month. Part of the reason for it was to go here. I thought I'd lost the poster I bought, but it's turned up. I think it aptly sums up what happened.

It makes me think of a Jewish family friend, who lost several members of her family here. She has always driven a Volkswagen car and somebody once said to her "you do realise that's a German company - why did you buy it?". "Because it's a good car" was her answer.
