Chapel

I'd been in a coma for a couple of days when my mum and dad were asked whether they could go to the hospital chapel.

When they went in, they were met by a man who introduced himself as the British Consul for Australia. He asked them a single question. "If your daughter dies, would you like her to be cremated here, or would you like her body to be transported back to the UK and cremated there?"

My mum was already struggling to cope with the heartbreak, but she now singles that as being the most difficult time to bear.
