Areas of my OU work

The last couple of weeks my OU work has been covering a couple of areas that I’m finding really interesting.
There’s looking at police interviews, where psychologists talk to those arrested to see whether they can bring the truth out of them.
The things I’m reading though this week are about jury duty and how, although we don’t think we are, we are unknowingly biased in our decisions when deciding guilty or not guilty. In fact I just read how this can be the same for lawyer and judges as well – I mean we’re all human aren’t we and humans make mistakes!
Anyway this all got me thinking about what I could maybe do after I’ve done this degree, as I’d love to be employed in this area of public life. So I wrote to my OU tutor apologising lots, asking the question of whether it could help me get a job like this.
She replied this morning, and I quote
“Yes, a forensic psychologist can work in a number of roles alongside police, prison service and court services. They can have quite a varied role.”
Oh my god, this has really spurred me on! I’d really enjoy getting a job like this after my OU work...
