My weight 4...

So. I can bundle the time between the birth of my son and September 2023 all together.I ended up joining several different Slimming World groups in my area. I stayed in one with a great leader and great people for a year, where I swithered between a half stone, without making any progress. So I left.

I tried Weight Watchers but couldn't stick to it.

I tried the 5:2 day diet but couldn't stick to it.

In between the commercial diets I tried the simple healthy food and exercising way of life. But I just couldn't hack it.

Once lockdown happened, ordering delivery of food to the house became much more common. I used to order food on Amazon, Just Eat, Deliveroo, Morrisons. My usual chocolate/ice cream/ice cream tub combinations. I used to eat and eat and eat until I felt sick. Disgusting.

I requested my husband to block these options on my computer and phone and he did. But I hated it. So I used to drive to Morrisons, buy food and eat in it the car park. I am so not proud of this.

I started seeing a counsellor who specialises in brain injury. She was amazing. I used to talk about my life. Describe when my husband Paul and I used to argue. Describe my food binges. I'll never forget how she gently pointed out how those arguments may trigger my need for food.

Maybe it was a sugar addiction.

She was right.

My GP referred me to Specialist Weight Management Service run by the NHS. I'll never forget the moment I walked into the room. I'm going to admit something to you. I had a good feeling as I walked in.

Why?

Because I wasn't the biggest person in that class.

I was with people who got it

They understood

They listened

They helped
